Meet Your Providers

Hi, I’m Juan Alfonso, APRN, FNP-BC, founder of True North Health & Wellness.

I am an ANCC board-certified autonomous Family Nurse Practitioner with over 14 years of healthcare experience. I graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Master of Science in Nursing from the Family Nurse Practitioner program and became board certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. My clinical training is rooted in family medicine, and over the years, I have had the privilege of caring for patients across many areas of healthcare, including emergency medicine, urgent care, pain management, and orthopedic spine surgery.

Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I worked as a registered nurse in emergency medicine and also served as a flight nurse, providing emergency care to both pediatric and adult patients in local hospital emergency departments and through fixed-wing air ambulance transport. Those experiences shaped the way I practice today. They taught me the importance of listening carefully, looking deeper, and treating every patient as a person — not just a diagnosis, symptom, or lab value.

But my passion for hormone optimization is not just professional. It is personal.

I understand firsthand what it feels like to know something is wrong and not feel heard. I personally struggled with symptoms of low testosterone and knew I did not feel like myself. Instead of getting a deeper evaluation, I was dismissed and told by my primary care provider that I was “just depressed.” That experience was frustrating, discouraging, and eye-opening. It showed me how easily hormone-related symptoms can be overlooked, minimized, or mislabeled when no one takes the time to investigate the full picture.

Hi, I’m Noslaidys Alfonso, APRN, FNP-BC, co-founder of True North Health & Wellness.

I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a clinical background in emergency medicine and urology.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of caring for patients during some of their most vulnerable moments, and those experiences have shaped the way I practice today. They taught me the importance of listening closely, asking the right questions, and looking beyond the surface when someone says they do not feel like themselves.

My passion for hormone optimization comes from both my professional experience and my personal journey.
During my time in urology, I witnessed firsthand how many men struggling with symptoms of low testosterone were dismissed, undertreated, or left without proper guidance. Too often, men came in feeling exhausted, unmotivated, mentally foggy, disconnected, or frustrated with changes in their body and performance — only to be told that it was just aging, stress, or something they had to live with.

I saw how traditional medicine often failed to fully address the impact that hormone deficiencies can have on a person’s quality of life. Testosterone is not just about libido or muscle. Hormones influence energy, mood, motivation, strength, recovery, sleep, metabolism, mental clarity, and confidence. When those symptoms are ignored or minimized, people suffer unnecessarily.

What is an
autonomous nurse practitioner?

In 2020, the Florida Legislature changed the law to allow Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) who are eligible, to hold the status of independent practitioner. Under this law APRNs that have the required education and clinical practice hour requirements are able to practice primary care without a physician.
